The excavation of Sambaquí was done in 1959-1960 with the help of CAPES and the Department of Anthropology and Philosophy of Paraná’s University. This area was being destroyed by the construction of the road of a train that passes right through this place. Lots of artifacts and human remains were found by the employees and that attracted the author’s attention. They believed that the evidence from this work shows that the initial occupation of this place can be trace up to 7000 years ago.en_US
